What does a meeting look like?
Scouting is as diverse as the leaders who run each section. However, there is a basic format that each meeting runs to.

ARRIVAL: when children are dropped off and signed in. A great time to speak with the leaders about any important information regarding their children or upcoming activities.

OPENING CEREMONY: children assemble in groups according to their section. They undertake formalities of the ceremony and a brief introduction of the activities will be given.

ACTIVITY: this can be quite varied and may be in or out of the hall. Sometimes parental assistance is required, where requests will be posted prior to the meeting. Activities can vary from physical, intellectual or investigative; or a combination of all of these. They may be isolated activities, contribute to their badge-work or be working toward a larger goal like a district/state/national camp.

CLOSING CEREMONY: a time to reassemble, hand out notes/information about upcoming events, important dates, activities and then children are dismissed into parental care. Parents need to sign children out at the end of the night.
What activities do Youth Members do?
A youth program is tailored to the interest of the members at the time and can vary from outdoor activity through to active participation indoors. It is designed so that the youth get to participate in the planning of the program, therefore keeping their interest alive during their time in that section.
Community: this can be quite varied, Community members with expertise can come and share this expertise with the section or the section may have an excursion to the place of interest. Eg RSL for Anzac Day, fire station etc.

Badgework: this works on the same principle in all sections. There are badges that the section may set out to achieve together and then there are self-interest badges and special skill badges that Youth Members are able to achieve of their own accord. You can find out more about our system under each age section.
Camping: various camps run throughout the year. These range from section/local camps that only the group organise and participate in, district camps where there will be youth from other groups within the district, state camps hosting groups from over the state and then there are national camps (every three years) around different locations of Australia. These national camps are purely for each section only.
Leadership: as the Youth Members become more experienced there will be opportunities for them to take on leadership roles within the section. The title of these differs from section to section. On occasions, this may extend to outside the group within state organised events but generally, these are local.
